Give Me Strength
The moving men will be here on Wednesday. This is the very first time (out of 9 moves) that I have packed out this early. We are still waiting to hear back on our flight date but this way, our stuff will be arriving roughly the same time we do or even a wee bit before. The Navy loans out temporary furniture, so we won't be sleeping on the floor for six weeks. SIX WEEKS! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH, how did it get here so fast?!
I have submitted my Illinois RN license application. I am hoping to get that approved by the end of August. Ideally, I will have a job before I leave here, but in anycase, I have a bunch of leads already. Now, the question is, will they be willing to teach an old dog new tricks? I am hoping to get into home health care and out of labor and delivery. Problem is, I have zero experience outside of labor and delivery. I may find myself working on a med/surg floor until I get enough experience. That is okay.
Still trying to work out the house deal but not as hard - I am resigned to waiting until I get into the area. I will probably end up renting for six months or a year. The tough part about moving to a very, very rural area is that rentals are scarce. I may be living in or around the bigger city of Carbondale. That's okay too.
So anyway, we spent the WHOLE weekend outside washing off our shed stuff. The customs inspector will not approve anything with any amount of dust or dirt on it. Funny, considering most of the dirt is from Washington!
Also, stand back. I have been ordered to have a retirement ceremony. I am not happy about this. I tried to get something toned down but my Executive Officer will not hear of it. I was ordered to appoint a junior officer to plan it. So I did. I told her that it wasn't my ceremony so she can do whatever she wants. I will be there with my uniform on and I will ultimately be glad that I was made to do it. Pictures later.
