Glass Beads? Whose Got The Glass beads?

When I think about all that has to happen in the next 7 months, I feel nauseous. I have two great trips coming up in April and May that we are all very excited about.

The first one will be a tour of Rome, Florence, Pisa and various places in Sicily with... MY DAD! Woooooo! The guys are very excited. We will be taking the autoferry from Catania (big city near me in Sicily) over to Naples. The boys and I will spend the night in that volcano campground where we stayed a year ago (that alone is worth it for the boys, hahahahahaha) and then we will pick dad up the next morning in Rome. The itinerary is very loose at the moment but we will be in Rome for nearly two days and then head on to Florence and Pisa. Then, we come back to the ferry in Naples on the fourth day and go back to Sicily. I didn't even barely have to suggest to my nanny that she have us over for dinner, so, after all the restaurant food (as good as that is, it isn't a good look at how Italians REALLY eat) we will have a home cooked meal by Eleonore's Sicilian mama. Buon Appetito! Then we will do as much as humanly possible to show him Sicily (in two days, HAH!). I will definitely take him to Agrigento where the most completely preserved Roman and Greek ruins are known in Europe. Oh, and I will throw Taormina (see my gallery) in there somehow too.

The second trip is to Corfu, Greece. I have dreamed about going to Greece since I was a little girl. As a matter of fact, one of the reasons I joined the Navy was to be stationed in Greece / Europe. Well, better late than never! Anyhow, the website for the hotel is drool-worthy. We take a ferry over (organized tour) and then tour Corfu and have the next three days to ourselves. I hear that we can get a tour to Athens and possibly Albania (what the heck is in Albania anyway?), but we mostly plan to be beach lounge lizards.

I am unreasonably hoping to do a weekend up in Venice, Italy sometime in July or something. Depends on where I am with house buying, packing and retiring stuff.

Okay, so I am sure you know what the glass beads are but do you know WHERE to find them? Kim Hart Designs (click on the store link). Today is opening day for her! You will be amazed at just how many beautiful beads she has for sale. Go, go GO!

Oh My, Where Did The Last Three Weeks Go?

I have been on the computer nearly continuously for the last three weeks, yet no blog update! Before I tell you why (and get you all excited, hahahahaha), I will update on ME.

Washington acknowledged my retirement. Notice that I did not say "approved". They just said that they HAVE it. Okay, no problem. There is a teeny tiny possibility that they could say no but it is unlikely. I downloaded the Illinois RN license form and geez louise - I will be lining up to donate a kidney next week to get this sucker. It came with a 32 page handbook. Don't you hate it when you press print and realize that you just printed the equivalent of the War and Peace?

In other news, I have two trips coming up. My dad has agreed to donate HIS kidney to pay for a trip to see us mid April. We are going to put my van on the auto ferry to Naples and meet up with him in Rome. What we will do after that is anyone's guess. Rome, Pisa, Florence are a given at this point. I was going to drive us back down the coast and take the ferry that way but it would kill way too much time. So we will all get back on the Naples auto ferry and show him a tiny bit of Sicily in the Spring. Should be gorgeous by then because we are already seeing cherry blossoms.

The second trip is a four day trip at the end of May to Corfu, Greece to loll on the beach. There is not a lot else to do there but that is okay - I don't think I have had a lolling vacation since becoming a parent!

Okay, okay so what was I doing all that time on the computer? Designing my very first website. Up to this point, I have only dabbled in the single page of my blog. Kim's website has many pages! I have yet to get the shopping cart part of it up and running but that is coming along too. Her store grand opening with be on the 18th of March (SOON!). So go on over to her blog and say hello.
