How's it goin?
I am finding it miserable trying to keep this blog up to date! We are constantly coming or going with no time for anything but preparing to do the opposite.
My first two weeks at work have been great. One thing working in a community health clinic will teach you is how to be grateful for your own health. The people that we see in the military are generally healthy with few substance abuse issues. I have a LOT to learn. The people I work with are just a great bunch. I am so happy I made the choice I did. I can honestly see myself doing this job for another twenty years.
The boys are doing great in their schools and have adjusted well. We had our first ever snow day on Thursday. We have lived in areas that snow before but just not enough to call off school or work. It snowed buckets (three inches, haha) but then the temperature plummeted to five degrees. Anyone else think that is a bit absurd? It has not shaken my confidence in moving here though. I absolutely love this place. The boys quickly learned that it is okay to sled in the dark, as it is dark most of the time it seems. Seth has a saucer, Jake has a plastic toboggan/sled thingy and Eli has a plastic mock snowboard. They are in heaven.
I am feeling uninspired so I am just going to let you in on my current musings:
*The use of camouflage around here is wild and crazy. I have never seen this much camo in my entire military career. They even use it as trim work on their vehicles (pronounce that vee-hick-el). Question: Are the deer fooled by the camouflage when the hunter is also wearing a neon orange safety vest?
*Don't even think you know how to say the names of cities in this area. Cairo would be Kay-ro, Vienna would be Veye-anna, Ullin would be Uh-lynn. There. I typed that with a straight face.
*Psst, to the lady that was at the clinic telling us how frustrated you are that you aren't losing weight and that you eat right and exercise everyday... I saw you dip your whopper with cheese in a soda lid full of mayo at McDonald's last week.
*Seth had a check up the other day and when the nurse was testing his developmental skills, she asked him "what does mom do when she is tired?" She wanted him to say "go to bed". Instead he said "get the short book". It dawned on me that he meant that when I say I am tired, it means he gets read a short book and not one of the longer ones. Smart boy.
*My newly four year old takes lessons from The Donald. I made him angry the other day and he told me "mom, you're FIRED". He wasn't joking.
*How come two five pound kittens can make more noise on a wood floor than grown humans can? Why does the cat litter have to be christened the second it has been changed? If you accidently shock the kitten when you go to pet him, is it animal cruelty? How about if you do it two more times because you think it is funny?
*The toilet is right next to the bathroom door. Exactly the distance a kitten's arm can reach under the door and snag your sock (if you are lucky enough to be wearing socks). I locked the dog in the bathroom the other day so the repairmen could come in and both of the kittens proceeded to poke him under the door which resulted in the dog throwing his body against the door in anger. Cats DO grin.

LOLOLOL Oh Deb don't stop writting!! I loved your stories about the kittens. SO TRUE!! I have a cat that sits right there WAITING for me to dump his litter and before the box is even fully on the floor, he is in it scratching.
ANd I have a number of scratched on my feet from kitten paws under doors. I do not think I would be able to poop with out at least three cats watching me. (i live alone) (4 cats, a dog and a house bunny) And they all follow me where ever I go.
