I survived the movers (but got no t-shirt)
Hee hee, totally recycled that post title from three years ago.
No mishaps to report at all. The movers were amazing, they descended on my stuff like a cloud of locusts and were finished that day - I have never been packed that fast before. I will say that I did a MUCH better job at getting rid of stuff this time though.
So now we are living with the Navy's temporary furniture and wow, I am strongly considering taking a flame thrower to my stuff when I get it back because obviously I don't actually need it. I did pack ALL of my fall type clothes and somehow left myself with sleeveless shirts. Not sure what the thinking was there given that it will be October when we get back.
My flight date is the 4th of October but I have to spend up to two weeks in Virginia for outprocessing. I am hoping they will get done in much less than that though. I have already reserved the Navy Lodge which will save me buckets of money.
Good news on the house front - my dad and stepmother found a really neat house that they are working a deal to hold for me. It is four bedroom, two story on 9 acres of land and even has a vintage barn. The boys will roll down a large grassy hill to arrive at the school parking lot. He sent me a bunch of pictures and the property is just gorgeous. We will move straight in and my household goods should just about meet me there (with my van hopefully). The deal is being worked out this week and when it is more solid, I will put the pictures he sent me into the gallery for all to drool over see.
Nice and tidy. Now all I have to do is find a job, OH RN LICENSE, WHERE ARE YOU? I am actually expecting it in a few weeks. I have found a job opening with the Public Health Dept that sounds way too good to be true. With the way my luck for this move has been running, it will wait for me!

Best wishes as everything wraps up and you start the next chapter! We are facing the initial stages of it all now, and exciting, all the choices open to us! (Jon hit 19 on Aug. 17th., so we're counting backwards from 365 now . . . although he might stay a year longer so that his High Three are all at LT.)

How nice to have HELP with the packing. It's amazing what you think you have to have but then once you don't have it, it doesn't bother you that bad.
Can't wait to see your new house and all you guys.
Won't be long now!

Sounds like a wonderful place!! I was always so glad to see the household effects shipment leave. THat meant we were so much closer to leaving and moving on.
Good luck with the rest of the move, and let us know when you get all settled and have time to blog again.

Hey! I've been thinking of you lately, and here you are, almost home.
Good luck with the Last Big Move -- looking forward to reading about your adventures returning Stateside.
And you know, we've driven just about through your new town (on 57) several times this year (we've accompanied DH on some business trips to Chicago -- we're in Ark.). If such a trip materializes again, a pit stop may be in order. :)
