Well, three boys and eight years later and it finally happened.
I just returned from my very first emergency room visit.
Jake broke his arm. He was climbing on a fence in the neighbor boys backyard and the kid pulled him by his shirt. Jake fell and his arm caught on the fence and jerked. He says he didn't fall on it. It wasn't obviously broken or anything. He came in sobbing, saying he broke his arm. This is a kid that cries for about 5 minutes no matter how bad it is. He had a bad day all around. About an hour prior to the fence incident, he rode his bike into a parked car (he said he shut his eyes) and smacked his face on the car, bloodying his nose. Lovely.
On the way home, he tearfully listed all the summer fun he would not be having: swimming, swinging, monkey bars, skating, scootering, baseball. Ugh. I don't even want to face this. They said that it was a "buckle" fracture - a crack in the head of the radius where the wrist is. It is a compression fracture which means he DID put his hand out to stop himself. He has a temporary cast on right now and will go see the ortho on Tuesday for the one that will be on for 2 to 4 very long weeks. Give me strength.

Boy, sorry to hear about this! I guess it will be a slow summer for Jake. How are the rest of ya'll doing? Email sometime, we'll be leaving for Anna on the 30th for the rest of the summer and fall.

The first emergency is the worst. You were mine when you ate the cake out of the diaper pail. I don't envy you at all. You are going to have a ruff summer of why can't I's. Tell Jake I love him. Kiss his boo boo for me.

I'm so sorry to hear that Jake got hurt.Sounds like he had a real bad day.He did good though.Matthew broke his leg at 3 1/2yrs.He couldn't even get up and walk around cause he had a spikea(not sure how thats spelled) cast on..We think thats whats wrong with him now,he got very spoiled because everyone had to do everything for him for so long.
Which arm is it?Is it the one he uses most?It will be a long summer for all of you,LOL.Tell him Aunt Kim is thinking of him.And all the boys.
