Yep, I'm bragging

I got this in the mail today:

Eli's reaction? He raised his eyebrows and said "so, we already know I get good grades". Turkey.

I have just survived the most stressful week I can think of in quite some time. I swear I had crap flying at me from all directions, home, family, social and work. I took out my retirement request and stroked it fondly several times. I almost licked it because I knew it would taste sweet, but that seemed a bit much, so I didn't (I reserve the right to lick it later though). This week was my first official week as the Department Head of Program Management (ooooh that sounds fancy!)- I supervise the offices of Patient Safety, Risk Management, Process Improvement and Credentials. I am still the Risk Manager for the hospital which I am still enjoying very much. The coolest part is that my resume is going to be FAT by the time I retire. I hope the VA thinks so too. It would be great to land a job like the one I already have, except as a civilian.

I checked back over my previous posts and noticed that I haven't blathered on lately about how gorgeous it is in Sicily. It is the kind of pretty that you get numb to until something REALLY pretty shocks you into realizing how we are being assaulted by beauty everyday. Today, the sunset fell on Mt Etna, highlighting the new snow in a shocking shade of Barbie™ pink. If that wasn't enough, the high winds we were having were blowing a fine mist of snow gilded with gold into the atmosphere. I laughed out loud at how ridiculously surreal it was. And no, I did not have my camera with me. This is a deficit I curse every time something interesting happens on the drive to and from work (nearly everyday). I really need to get a good shot of the sheep herding down the street. That is also cause for childish delight on my part and I have been here experiencing it for TWO YEARS!

So no matter how stressful this week has been, I can still say that *I* stopped to smell the sunset, did you?
