A question for you readers
I feel the exact same way about Giant City, Kim. Two days in a row, we decided to "just stay one more day". It is gorgeous and could not be more convenient (oh yes, and CHEAP). It will definitely be our place to stay when we visit down there.
I was thinking this morning (look out, that is scary) that I would like to reinstitute the family trip to Daytona/Deltona each year. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of these trips. I have been geographically separated from family for so long that my children barely even know my family. That is a real shame. Seeing family this past vacation was great fun for the boys. They love their cousins to pieces.
It wouldn't have to be Daytona - it could alternate or it could be some place altogether different. Someone could coordinate or pick a spot each year and anyone that is able, could join in.
What do you guys think about this? It wouldn't have to be strictly family (which is why I am posting this on my blog for my friends to see as well). We would try to have a six month or more lead time in order to save up money and also to hold a big block of rooms (see, that is positive thinking for ya).
One more thing. I swear on a stack of carefully folded laundry that I will put up the pictures tonight!

I LOVE that idea. Randy and I have been talking about how we need to start doing more family things. Pretty soon everybody will be grown and gone and it will be harder for EVERYONE to get together at the same time.And--Shannon,Cameron's mom, called me the other day. She's upset that no one from the family calls or comes by to see the baby. she said she just wants Cameron to know he has cousins and other family out there. I agree with her and you. I think it is ASHAME that my kids, your kids,Cameron,Chris hardly know each other or the aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Its just down right SHAMEFULL.I know everyone is busy in life, but you know it only takes a few minutes to let someone know your thinking about them and are interested in them and what they are doing(I'm mainly or at least talking about the kids). Its not the kids fault...its the adults.
We have been trying to teach our kids that nothing is more important than their family,to love each other no matter what, stick up for each other no matter who its against, and to care and show an interest in each other and what they like,to let all the small, petty things go. Time goes by SOO fast. Why not share that time with family and have fun together, because no one will love you more than your family will(or at least their supposed to). Hopefully they are listening to us.
Anyway,didn't mean to ramble on.
We had so much fun going on a vacation and seeing everybody we want to do it again,LOL. That was actually the first REAL vacation we have ever had all together.
So since we've been back from up there we've been talking about going to Key West in June for a week. We have not been to the beach on vacation yet. Can't wait to go, if it works out.Hopefully it will. It will be a combination summer vacation /graduation celebration for Shawna/20th year anniversary for us/birthdays for everyone/mothers and fathers day all in one vacation...LMBO. It will be a lot of fun.
But you wouldn't be able to do this until late next year right? Then we might as well plan for the following summer. I think it would be a lot of fun.Maybe we can work it out so for the ones that can't spend a week there they could at least come for the first couple of days and then others could come for the last few days and actually use the same room so we wouldn't have to have so many rooms.
I'm sure we can work something out.It would be a lot of fun, especially for the kids
