Happy Freedom To You!
Steve was released with remarkably few problems by 9:30 am on the 6th. We have been able to talk to him since and he is very, very happy. He and his dad took a little time to go back to our old stomping grounds in Whidbey Island and Port Townsend. His first dinner in the real world was at one of our all time favorite Thai restaurants in Port Townsend (color me very jealous).
The Navy does a really neat magazine each month called "All Hands" and this month (what are the odds?), they featured Steve's old job in a really nice article. Check it out, it is called "Under Pressure".
In other news, I now have the commercial side of the plane tickets. Cross your fingers that the MAC flight system works in our favor on August 1st. I am trying really hard to work out something with my sister to stay in the Giant City Lodge from the 4th to the 7th. They have some really cool cabins that are fairly cheap. It is also the place where, long ago, Steve and I got trapped in "Fat Man's Squeeze". (first entry on the page)
Oh and Grandma - so sorry to not get back to you. Yes, I not only read your comments but really, really appreciate them. Thanks to everyone who has commented or emailed me. It means a lot to me, especially given my phone phobia.

Hooray..what a neat time for Steve and family to start over ....Independence week! Best wishes and good luck with the reservations at the Lodge. Love that place! Haven't stayed there but the ambiance and food is surely great. We'll be in Penn. at the hunting camp. Love Gramma

I am glad for Steve, freedom is precious. I will say that I am scared for you. I want everything to turn out as you want. I love you dearly, but you have to understand my fears. Steve is a great guy, and I know that you love him. From my experience love can also hurt, and I don't want that for you. I wish you all the happiness in your life and travels with Steve if it is to be.
