Sock!

I started the socks - I thought they were going to be for my nine year old but I made them a little too big, so they are going to be for me instead (shhhhh, don't tell Eli). I love the Crystal Palace bamboo DPN's but good golly, knitting fingering weight yarn on size 2 needles is taking for freaking EVER. I am almost to the heel flap. The yarn feels good, it is a superwash wool and will make the socks just a tiny bit heavier than the average dress sock. I am going to knit a pair of consolation socks for Eli, except I will use fatter yarn and size 6 needles so they go much faster.

Coming along

I finished the front side of the sweater while on vacation this week. I thought I would be able to knit more but we were pretty busy site seeing (in Germany). It is very frustrating that we cannot take knitting needles onto the plane ARGH. I honestly cannot see a terrorist doing much damage with a pair of circular needles!

I am always on the lookout for yarn during my travels but came up nearly empty this time around. I probably would have found plenty in Munich but that was not on the itinerary this trip. I did find some fingering weight yarn that looks like it will stripe up nicely for socks. I have not ventured very much more than newborn booties in the sock department but I am really looking forward to it. What do you think - new WIP in order? Somebody stop me!

Making good progress

I like the color, I really do. BUT, it sure is a lot of purple LOL. Also, I forgot how itchy 100% wool is. I decided to add bands of seed stitch to liven it up a bit. I like it so far.

So what's a girl with dry hands to do?

Ooh, I know! Ball up all that gorgeous 100% wool from Peace Fleece. While it would be nice to have a yarn swift and ball winder, I love the zen state winding yarn puts me in. And my hands are lanolin soft. The color is just gorgeous. If you haven't checked out their yarns - go, go!

I decided that I am bored with the scarves and want to make something more defined. So I am pulling up one of my planned projects which is the Latvian Lavendar wool sweater. I got it in a kit from Peace Fleece but I am not sure that I want to work that pattern (Old Friends). If I do, I will definitely do something other than straight stockinette. I was thinking about doing a moss stitch or something but this yarn is pretty chunky (4st x 5 rows/inch). So, I think I will do some sort of open work like this for borders:

Need a cool blog design?

Heather has officially opened her doors for customers. Check out her portfolio, she has got some real talent. One thing that I have had a hard time with is thinking up what the hell I wanted for my blog. I needed someone to take a tiny tidbit and turn it into a template but allow me to freely say what I liked and didn't like without feeling obligated to accept their idea. Not only did she do that but she did it quickly.

Good luck Heather!!

This was way too funny to pass up!

From a link posted at TKGA:

Equal opportunity (although this is purely decorative and not for warming LOL)

And here I was thinking that my knitted uterus that I use for childbirth education was bizarre. {seriously contemplating knitting herself a hoo hoo pin}
