I Have A New Purse

Man, I love felting with Cascade 220! This one is a turquoise/green/blue mix (I think it is Quatro Antigua), which I really wasn't excited about but I had a design idea that had to be expressed. The felted result almost PERFECTLY matches my clapotis scarf. Anyway, I have to play around with the pattern a bit more because I want the bag to be an inch or two shorter and the hand strap to be a little wider. I knit the bag flat and kitchenered the live end of the i-cord to the provisional cast on side. Then I had to seam up the sides. I am not a big fan of seaming so I will knit the bag in the round and then kitchener the i-cord sides together (I suppose you could always do a three needle bind off but that would leave a ridge). Pictures here.

Wendy and I had S.E.X.** this weekend. There weren't even any kids around to watch - a real treat for both of us. Of course, the one day I hire a babysitter, I end up squandering the first hour stuck in post Carnivale/festa traffic. The LOYM didn't really have anything for me but Wendy picked up (cleaned off his table) the rest of some yarn she had bought before. There was a new table with mostly acrylic yarn that was perfect for a baby sweater that I am designing. I also decided to pick up some soft black (ZarOne - like Wendy used on the delight hat) to mix with the leftover yarn from my clapotis - I will do the adult version of the Delight hat.

Here is a sneak peek at the baby sweater I am working out. It will be for my neighbor/coworker's baby that is due in March. There just isn't much going on for baby boys. My mission is to make a manly baby sweater. Quite possibly a submission for the Summer Knitty men's edition. We will see. You will see right away that I nabbed Wendy's stranded stitch (it is so fun to do!). I am thinking the top will be either broken rib or twisted rib. I am researching a rib pattern that does not pull in (too much). The fleur de lis stranded stitch will go to the armpits and then the rib (in the main color) will go the rest of the way and the sleeves.

** Stash Enhancement eXpedition (For those that haven't seen the acronym before - this IS a G-rated blog after all, sheesh)

Oh, oh - I forgot! My sister (of the cool glass fish and sheep stitch markers) has finally been goaded into naming her studio and buying a web domain (thanks to more than several Knittyheads that emailed their support). Her site will be Kim Hart Designs. It isn't up yet but it is actively being designed. Hopefully it will be up within the month - WooHoo! I will update when it goes live.

Hi, I will be visiting Florence and Rome in March. Are there any yarn stores there? My son, who is studying in Rome, will be in Sicily for a week or so, although we will probably not be able to make it over there. Yarn stores in Sicily? This will be our first trip to Italy.

I enjoy your blog. Thanks for the pictures. Love the Delight Hat.

Where to start? It's all gorgeous! I love the baby sweater...the purse is adorable. Wow! I should get off this computer and go knit something.
