Fast!
I took a time out last week to do a baby sweater for my neighbor after it suddenly dawned on me that she is due in less than three weeks! It is molto caldo (very hot!) here, so I made it in 6 months size.
The pattern, from Cabin Fever, was incredibly well written and easy to use. I strongly recommend it for brandnew knitters! I had made a Cabin Fever pattern before and loved that one too - Stripes for me. As a matter of fact, I loved this sweater so much I made it several times. Two of them are here and here.
As soon as I can find batteries for my camera (damn Game Boy all to hell and back), I will post a picture of a quasi design/finishing project that seduced me this week. A coworker brought in a half finished toddler dress that her mother started 18 years ago. She was unable to finish it due to parkinsons and has since passed away. I am going to help her finish it, which shouldn't take long, it only needs the neckline shaping and to be pieced together. I have to find the yarn for it though. I am going to look while I am back in the States next week. Looking at the dress, I decided to graph the whole thing out and write up the pattern. The hem on the dress is adorable and the shaping is unique (I will have to make corrections). I have no idea what she had in mind so this will definitely be detective work. She was apparently knitting it on the fly. I will ask for opinions over at Knitty Coffeeshop but I think I am going to make it a scoop neck jumper so a little blouse can be worn underneath. I will post pictures tonight.

I love that little cardigan! Good thinking, making it larger. Man, I want one for me . . . maybe not in baby pastels, but that is seriously cute.
I checked out the site where you got the pattern . . . nice stuff! Must get knitting again . . .

Deb-- When you are ready to felt your Picasso, you can probably cut the yarn carries loose. Once the wool felts, the stitches will lock together and there is not any need to keep the carries intact. It shouldnt unravel. Of course, use your common sense, but I cut the carries on a couple of old sweaters I felted in order to get rid of the 3-d effect, and it worked fine. the hanging looks really impressive... have fun!
